Remember that the Tennessee Tax Free Weekend will bring out the shoppers, and stores will be pretty busy. Plan ahead for what you need and know exactly where you want to go to get it. Most major retailers will post their sales tax holiday specials on their websites, so browse ahead and check them out! Plan ahead and shop early (Friday!) for clothing, lines will be long and popular items will go fast. Go as early as possible on Friday or Saturday (when stores first open) and you’ll catch them before they get too busy, and hopefully get some of the good stuff before everyone else snatches it up! A lot of businesses will take advantage of the mandated sales tax holiday to sell other items at a discount, and take advantage of the traffic in their stores. So don’t assume that only clothes, school supplies and computers that meet the state’s qualifying requirements will be on sale – you may find that some retailers will offer the sales tax exemption on just about everything to get products out the door. And finally, remember, the sales tax holiday is only good in person! Tennessee Tax Free Weekend 2018 DOES NOT include the sales tax exemption to items purchased online! (Buy local!)
